Mickey and Friends has an open door policy. Parents are welcome to drop in any time during regular business hours without securing prior approval to observer their child and/or the program. However, please remember that younger children have a difficult time when parents come to visit and leave without taking the child with them.

All paperwork needs to be completed PRIOR to the first day in care. This is required by the
State of Kansas.

The first 30 days is a trial period for both you and me. If during that first 30 days, either party finds child care is not working out, for any reason, a 2 week notice is not required by either party.  After the initial 30 days, this contract may be terminated at any time, by either party, with a 2 week written notice. Payment will continue to be due during this 2 week period, even if you choose not to bring your child during that time frame.

MEALS & SNACKS
We serve nutritious meals for all children at no extra cost to you. Children are offered a variety of foods, but are not forced to eat. We do encourage each child to try one or two bites of everything, and they must eat or try a little of everything before given seconds of anything. Sometimes they are surprised by what they like! If the child refuses to eat, there will be no food served until the next designated meal/snack time.
Parents of infants must supply formula and baby food until the infant is solely on table foods. We ASK THAT YOU ONLY BRING FOODS THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY INTRODUCED TO YOUR CHILD. We will not give whole milk to any infant under the age of 1 year old. You are responsible for feeding your child if he/she arrives at child care after a meal time. Our meal times may vary according to seasonal schedules. Please see me if you are unsure about our current times. Infants are always fed on demand. WE ASK FOR ONE BOTTLE TO KEEP ON HAND AND THEN I HAVE YOU BRING A DAILY SUPPLY OF 3 CLEAN BOTTLES A DAY. AT THE END OF THE DAY I WILL SEND THE BOTTLES HOME IN A BAG FOR YOU TO SANTIZE THEM AS YOU PLEASE.

Animal Policy:

There are currently three animals on the premises. Parents understand that the children will have possible contact with them and that they have been vaccinated according to the state requirements and are under a veterinarians care for all their needs. They family pets are Cinnamon an orange short haired cat, Pumpkin a white and orange short haired cat, and Gracie a female black lab.  All animals are wonderful with children and have been with young children since day one of being in this home/facility.

illness and Exclusion Policy:

We must provide a healthy environment for all children participating in my program. For this reason, your child will not be allowed to attend if he/she is ill or begins to exhibit certain symptoms of illness.

An ill child must not be admitted `if one or more of the following exists:

1. The illness prevents the child from participating comfortably in all activities, including outdoor play.

2. The illness results in a greater need for care than caregivers can provide without compromising the health, safety, and supervision of the other children in care.

3. The child has one of the following, unless medical evaluation by a health-care professional indicates that the child can be included in the child-care activities:

ï‚· Oral temperature of 100.1 degrees or greater, accompanied by behavior changes or other signs or symptoms of illness

ï‚· Armpit temperature of 99.1 degrees or greater, accompanied by behavioral changes or other signs or symptoms of illness;

ï‚· Symptoms and signs of possible severe illness, such as lethargy, abnormal breathing, uncontrolled diarrhea, two or more vomiting episodes in 24 hours, rash with fever, mouth sores with drooling, wheezing, behavioral changes, or other signs that the child may be severely ill

ï‚· A health-care professional has diagnosed the child with a communicable disease, and the child does not have medical documentation to indicate that the child is no longer contagious.

If your child becomes sick while in our care, we will:

ï‚· Contact the parent to pick up the child

ï‚· Care for the child apart from other children

ï‚· Give appropriate attention and supervision until the parent arrives to pick up the child.

ï‚· Give extra attention to hand washing and sanitation if the child has diarrhea or vomiting.

ï‚· Expect the parent or authorized person to pick up the child within 30 minutes.

Please note when your child goes home sick they may not return to the facility until they are fever free, diarrhea free and/or contagious rash free for at least a full 24 hours.

Procedure for Administration of Medications:

Prescriptions and over-the-counter medications:

ï‚· Parents must sign an authorization and include times for caregivers to administer each medication according to label directions;

ï‚· The medication must be in the original container labeled with the child's full name, and the date brought to my child-care home;

ï‚· I will administer the medication in amounts according to the label directions or as recommended by a physician;

ï‚· I will administer the medication only to the child for whom it is intended; and I will not administer the medication after its expiration date.

Ointments and Creams:

If you have ointments, creams, lotions or sprays that you would like us to apply to the child's skin (including but not limited to: sunscreen, insect repellant and diaper rash ointment), the ointment, cream, lotion or spray must be in the original container and the child's full name must be on the container. The ointment, cream or spray must be labeled to indicate that it is appropriate for the child. You must fill out a written permission form for that medication but not necessarily for each individual application. We will not apply any ointment, cream, lotion or spray that is past the expiration date.

Potty Training:

Potty training shouldn’t be rushed; it is important that your child is psychologically and physically ready for training. Pull Ups (or other brand) must be provided by the parent/guardian during this transition period, no regular style training pants or underwear will be used until your child maintains 2 continuous weeks of bladder/bowel control; of course, if your child regresses after this 2 week period we will assess the next step.

Diapering:

Parents are asked to provide diapers for their children. Mickey and Friends Daycare will provide baby wipes, unless your child has an allergy and needs a certain brand or scent and then we ask that you provide them for your child.

Children under 2 years of age still in diapers will be changed on a changing table.

This facility only uses disposable diapers. Diaper checks our done every 2 hours unless an earlier time is needed for unexpected diaper surprises J

Any soiled clothing will be placed in a bag for you and sent home at the end of the day to wash.

NapTime:

We will have naptime for approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours each day. Each child no matter their age is required to rest during this time. If they do not nap that is fine but they must remain quite by reading books, or playing with one of our quiet time box activities during that time in order to allow for the other children to sleep.

All children 6 weeks to 12 months (longer if the parents and I) feel they need it, will sleep in a pack n play. Children older than 12 months will sleep on a nap mat, provided by the facility.

We request whenever possible to please try not to pick up your children between the hours of 11:30am – 2:00pm as this is our lunch/story time/nap time frame. Obviously there may need to be exceptions made but the less disruption during this time for the children the easier it is to get them to rest.

Birthdays/Holidays:

Our facility will participate in each child’s birthday by having a small birthday party for them to recognize their special day; we encourage parents to send special treats on those days to help their child celebrate.

We will also be celebrating other holidays throughout the year and doing activities that correlate with those holidays, such as a Halloween party, a Christmas party with gift exchange, and more.

House Rules:

No running, jumping or screaming permitted inside the house. We use “walking feet” and “inside voices”. No walking around the house with food, cups or bottles. No going out the door or gate at pick up time without an adult. No tattling or potty talk. No gun or violent play. We respect each other and keep our hands to ourselves. No rough housing, hitting, pushing, biting, grabbing, kicking, pulling, pinching, spitting at others, including household pets and your parents. Lifting, carrying, climbing, or sitting on other children is not permitted. We respect our belongings and our environment. No standing on, hitting with, pounding with, throwing toys or other household items.

The following methods of discipline will be used:

Encourage children to solve problems themselves; Intervention, discussion, re-direction to another play area, loss of privileges, logical consequences and think time. If we feel there is a chronic behavioral issue that needs attention, we will let you know so that we are handling it in the same way so that there is continuity in discipline between our homes. These types of behaviors might include such things as biting, use of bad words, chronic hitting, etc. Together we will try to find a solution. You may be called to remove your child if his/her behavior prevents me from being able to properly care for the other children. If the problem continues, other arrangements for the care of the child will have to be made for the safety and well being of all. As child care providers, we have a responsibility by law to recognize and report any evidence of child abuse (physical, emotional or neglect) to the proper authorities.

Emergency/Disaster Plans:

In the case of an emergency where we would need to remove the children from the facility, we would call the parents and/or emergency contacts immediately.

Please note that we have two emergency meeting places away from our housing area:

1st – is the Kwik Shop at 47th and Seneca

2nd – if we are unable to go to the North direction would be the Cash-Savers grocery store in Haysville, KS on Grand and Seneca.

Which location we will be going to will be relayed to you upon contact of evacuation.
